The Palmetto Trail is the state trail for South Carolina, with pans to stretch across the state for 500 miles. Currently 354 miles of the trail are complete with efforts to finish the last 150 miles underway. The eastern terminus of the trail is at Awendaw Passage along the coast just north of Charleston. The western terminus of the Palmetto Trail is downtown Walhalla, SC. Many parts of the trail are multi-purpose for hiking and biking.
