The New England Trail runs 215 miles through Connecticut and Massachusetts, starting at the Long Island Sound in Guilford, CT and ending at the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border. The NET consists mostly of three separate trails, the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail, Mattabesett Trail and Metacomet Trail, which are sometimes referred to as the Triple-M Trail. The NET is certified as a National Scenic Trail and is administered by the National Park Service. Volunteers from the Appalachian Mountain Club (Berkshire Chapter) and the Connecticut Forest and Park Association provide trail maintenance. There are limited camping options on the trail as most of the trail is on private property. There are some cabins, lean-tos, and campsites on the trail but most require reservations.
